Refurbishment of the Historical Gravesend Borough Market Building
As part of the ongoing redevelopment of Gravesend Borough Market, Faithdean were appointed by Gravesham Borough Council to carry out refurbishments on the historical market building.
Working to a 40 week programme, the refurbishment included the extensive renovation to both the interior and exterior of the market building. This comprised of the installation of a new roof with glass skylights, a new feature canopy entrance from the Market Square and glass curtain walling to the end of the building at Queen Street.
The new scheme designed by Clay Architecture brings much needed natural light into the once dark hall, and includes a mixture of fixed and temporary stalls to for use by a variety of traders in the historic market building.
Already, the refurbishment has been welcomed by the community as a much-needed boost to draw shoppers back to the indoor market, and has helped to create new jobs and revitalise the town centre.
