Walmar House, Regent Street, Marylebone, London W1

Redevelopment and refurbishment of Walmar House

Faithdean were given the challenge to provide 288-300 Regent Street and 13-15 Great Castle Street with a newly developed basement and ground floor retail space. Regent’s Street required six floors of Category A office space, and four new residential properties in Great Castle Street.

The works included the full strip out of the existing buildings, followed by the partial demolition of the rear of the existing Regent Street building, and the whole of the Great Castle Street buildings, retaining only the Great Castle Street facade.

All the street front façades were cleaned and renovated including replacing existing windows with new steel ones. New groundworks were put in to strengthen the existing footings, including underpinning the party wall foundations.

The works also included the construction of a new structural frame, extended floors, new glazed brick and clad rear façades and the installation of all new mechanical and electrical services throughout.

A new feature reception was created with an increased bank of lifts and an alternative entrance for bicycles and storage. The building has been comprehensively refurbished to satisfy the demands of today’s modern business requirements.

All works were completed to meet BREEAM ‘Very good’ rating for the commercial offices and CFSH level 3 rating for the residential units.
