The Role
Faithdean Plc is an experience main contractor operating in London and the South East. We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and confident Head of Sustainability & Compliance who will lead/champion our sustainability and compliance goals on a range of construction projects and across the wider business.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a personable and professional attitude, who is solution-focused and passionate about sustainably, environmental performance, compliance and best practice. This role will be both challenging and rewarding with exposure to a fast-paced, vibrant working environment.
This is a vital role within our business, reporting directly to the Board of Directors to develop and successfully carry out the sustainability strategy for the company and wider group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and successfully carry out strategy for continued business growth.
- Support the Board of Directors with devising the annual sustainability business plan and ensuring that costs remain within the sustainability budget.
- Use expert knowledge of the sustainability sector to implement strategy.
- Develop and promote environmental awareness including waste management initiatives and CO₂ reduction plans across all teams to optimise best practice across the business.
- Coach employees in best practise and in the implementation of site waste management plans across the business.
Support teams to meet client-specific expectations and initiatives as required, such as BREEAM & Ska assessments, zero waste to Landfill and legal compliance and updates. - Supply monthly KPI reports to the project team and clients where necessary.
- Assist in the collation, analysis and reporting of data (such as waste volumes and utility use) to enable the assessment of performance against sustainability targets
- Undertake frequent visits to construction sites to assess compliance with the in-house environmental management system and make recommendations for improvement
- Undertake environmental auditing of sites to ensure compliance and maximise best practise.
- Carry out environmental incident investigations and propose requirements for future improvements.
- Implement best practices and stay up-to-date with current trends in the sector as well as current and upcoming legislation and compliance.
- Define, and where possible, exceed customer expectations on sustainability delivery across the business.
- Manage, maintain and improve the Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Plan and carry out periodic internal audits of the IMS, identifying corrective actions and improvements, reviewing agreed actions to ensure closure.
- Oversee and manage the Company’s ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 accreditations, including: Altius, AIS, EXOR, CHAS, Constructionline and Safecontractor.
- Undertake regular site inspections to ensure compliance with the registered systems, Environmental, Health & Safety standards and legislation
- Host annual surveillance audits by Bureau Veritas and re-certification audit every 3 years
- Carrying out investigation, corrective action, record management, corporate reporting, Management reviews at different levels.
- Delivering technical assistance to clients on BREEAM/WELL/ SKA Projects
- Provide assistance to sites in regard to Health & Safety/ Environmental Issues, SWMPS and all BREEAM/ Sustainability requirements
- Assist with Considerate Constructors Schemes and BREEAM/WELL/SKA projects on active jobs, also consulting at tender stage
- Provide Quality and Environmental input into pre-qualification questionnaires and tender documentation
Experience & Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Relevant industry qualifications eg. PIEMA, IEMA
- Experience working in the construction industry with a main contractor, commercial sector
- Technical knowledge and expertise of BREEAM/SKA/CCS/WELL
The Position
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our head office in Kent, but you must be able to travel to sites in and around London. Competitive package with good career prospects on offer to the right candidate.
